Today, from kindergarten to becoming an earning professional is a task our children take up, unthinkingly. ‘Baba & Ma’ have become ‘Dad & Mom’. When could they really learn about our age old culture and value systems?

Indian culture is a researcher’s token.

Europeans were, at a point of time, ruling us. Today, they are researching on our culture - origin, traits - family, society, economy, trends in clothes, ornaments, lifestyle, etc. (And, in the end they conclude, that the young Indian is not educated enough.

He can be taken for a ride. Give him dollars and he will fall at your feet. (How often does he grace his own parents?)

For anyone that was watching the funeral of NFL Star, Sean Taylor: the pastor said that people will be judged by the “trend” of their life. If they were doing good most of their life they shall receive a Godly reward. How many people believe that?
I don’t think being a christian and going to heaven is based on a “trend” it is a lifestyle.

The media has given much attention to the “metrosexual” trend where straight men concerned with their appearance seem to adopt or display the fashion lifestyle tendencies of stereotypical gay men.

Could the reverse ever happen where straight women adopt/display the fashion lifestyle tendencies of stereotypical “butch” lesbian women?

Some argue that society perpetuates unhealthy, unrealistic, unnecessary and uncomfortable images of female beauty, in the form of dresses/skirts, makeup, excessive jewelry, long hair, bikini swimsuits, or high-heeled shoes, and that most straight women are brainwashed into conforming to such images, mostly for the benefit of attracting men.

Do you think butch lesbians may actually be on to something with their “lower maintenance” fashion sense?

Or do some women genuinely enjoy wearing lipstick or wearing fancy dresses?
For example, one could argue that short, cropped hair or a buzz-cut is probably more manageable than a long mane of hair that one has to care for constantly. Shirts and trousers might be more practical than dresses or halter-tops. And many would probably agree that flat-heeled shoes are way more comfortable than walking around in high heels.
Just wanted to add that I’m not trying to stereotype all lesbians as being “butch”, as I know many lesbians are also very feminine and enjoy dressing the same tastes in fashion as straight women.

Are many of today’s modern and retro trends poisoning our actual appearances, causing gender confusion, disrupting our youth, separating people, and promoting unrealistic and biased lifestyles and attitudes? What is to be thought of by the different classes and sub-cultures of our individuality, expressionism, clique subsidence, and actual meaning of our clothing? What will we do about dangerous trend setters? How far past the waist is acceptable(if it is at all)? Are the pants to tight? The clothes too baggy, and the shoes too expensive? What do we not want to see on certain body types? What kind of clothes are you weary of? And what the hell are these; short-shorts or denim underwear?

That’s not the material they look for. I’m tryin out the look of a prep, as I’ve heard “preppy is a lifestyle not a fashion trend” I’m a W.A.S.P so my mom’s like, you were born a prep. But whatever, would it be wierd if I showed up to an interview in a suit? Cuz I have to take a tour of the campus, and I don’t want students looking at me wierd. HELP PLEASE!!! And my mom says that a suit is the way to go, so she’s taking me shopping at all these preppy stores… ayuda me.

Many experts are now saying that gas may reach even $5 per gallon in the next year or two. They say this will happen because unlike back in the 70’s, other countries now need the oil as well. If gas reaches $5 gallon, will you:

a) Go against the trend and buy a large SUV because they will now be cheaper to buy.

b) You have a large SUV and refuse to let gas prices interfere with your lifestyle and will continue to drive it.

c) Large SUVs are really more for image than need for the average person. People who drive them are arrogant.

d) You are tired of paying excessive prices at the pump and will try to either reduce driving or get a car with better gas mileage.

e) I drive an economy car already and plan to keep the one I have, or get another economy car.

Select one or more…OR write in your answer!

I have a circle on my head. asked:

I have pale skin, I wear American Eagle but not a lot of black. I’m 13 and I mostly listen to pop, rock, metal, and electronic. I’m the only white person in my grade and the only person who listens to rock. I also know a lot about music. I have read entire books on gothic-rock, post-punk, and punk rock, but I don’t know much about emo. It kind of confuses me.

I have an obsession with wolves, werewolves, the moon, German silent films, dead trees, Wicca (although I don’t practice this religion) kind of stuff.

I’m just kind of confused. My friends call me EMO-PREP or just EMO but I don’t even understand what this is. Is this a trend or a lifestyle? Why exactly are they depressed?
I also DON’T cut my wrists. I’m afraid of blades.

I have a very good sense of humour and used to think the word chav was a lighthearted way of describing someone of low income who liked labels. My view is that as long as something isn’t malicious is can be very funny. However, being from a working class background at university surrounded by well-off students I have noticed a trend to use the word “chav” with slightly prejudiced undertones. They use the word to describe people on benefits, people that don’t earn a certain amount of money and people that aren’t middle class with middle class lifestyles. They do so openly and with pride because the term is so acceptable; is this a new way of being openly snobbish and class driven under the mask of political correctness? Or should I just accept that some people use this word?
