(And it isn’t a phase. I’m now 30, and still dressing up, listening to dark wave, and in love with Poe).
I’m just curious how people see us… and what they believe to be gothic. Bands, clothing, etc…
Answers like Rakim should be number one because he started lyrical **** isn’t enough for him to cover all the categories of influence.
props to HNIC good point bout jim jones
Many of us just repeat the routine things everyday. Even our career, was a trend, not a dream.
Once I told my teacher that I am in a conflict now,I am striving to find what I really want, but in vain. One can`t know what he really wants before he experienced many different lifestyles. My teacher said that it is because I am still young.
Maybe all of these days,I was just keeping on bothering myself with this question which has no answer.or say, that even if I knew the answer, there is still the responsibility prevent me from moving to it!
Sure, a woman might run for presdient in 2008. We have women in the military. Med schools, and other professional school are now at least half women. But what about today’s children?
It’s one thing to say that pop culture has elevated the likes of Britney Spears to roles models. But, much more concerning, is the latest trend to label every positive powerful female role model as either a B%$^& or a lesbian -when they are not either. (I mean no disrespect towards lesbians. I would hope that they would be angered that their lifestyle is being used as a term of slander.)
Some examples I’ve seen in the papers:
Hillery, Martha Stewart, most female CEO’s- B&$#@’s.
Oprah, Sec. of State Rice, women athletes -lesbians.
I hope I am wrong.
If I am wrong, tell me why. If I am right, what can we do about it?
Please, serious answers only.

Ok so I try to be the best dad I could to my son and Im afraid he is going to end up dead or a gang banger. I lived in South Central Los Angeles all my life and as you may know this city is rittled with gangs and Im a single dad (wife passed away) and I used to be a gang member but no longer involved with that. My son already has a shaved head and wears gang clothing and cortez shoes and he recently got a tattoo. I let him get one not knowing it was a gang tattoo. He’s got into fights before and I just dont want my son get taken by the streets of LA. Hes been in trouble with the law aswell. What could I do to get him out of this trend? I would move out of South Central in a jiffy but Im having a lot of money issues at the moment.
The thing is that were surrounded by all of this, you cant even walk to the store without some thugs throw up a sign and Ive even had teen gang members come up to ‘me’ and ask where Im from and its just sad to see how the city I grew up in is turning out, if anything its his surroundings that are making him like this
